I was born in the South and raised by a father who cherished storytelling and passed that love on to me. I have spent my entire professional career telling stories to make complicated financial and business subjects easy to understand.

I always love to tell the story of PFC Schumacher when discussing motivation with budding entrepreneurs. Back in the days when I was a company commander in the US Army, I had a PFC (Private First Class) who was late for the morning formation more times than not. He had been in the military for around 15 years and had risen through the ranks and busted back down again more times than not. He was your classic non-performer.
